A local outdoor clothing store provides recommendations for cold weather clothing | Popgen Tech

(WHSV) – As the bitter cold approaches, it’s a good idea to check your wardrobe. If you need to be out in the cold, Connor Wells of Walkabout Outfitters in Harrisonburg said a certain material is key for winter clothing.

“The key is to make sure you have sweat-wicking material. Things like cotton aren’t going to work very well with that, so you definitely want to stick with a wool or synthetic blend,” Wells said.

Wells also said there’s an extra layer that people tend to forget when it’s snowing, windy or raining in cold weather.

“People think I’ll just throw it on because it always keeps me warm, but then when it starts raining and that (midlayer) gets wet, the insulation is basically ruined. So always make sure you have that waterproof layer when you have this kind of winter weather in the forecast,” Wells said.

Wells said to also make sure your ears and head are closed, as a lot of body heat escapes through the head.
