An ex-employee predicts Ross valuations as low as $0.49 | Popgen Tech

TikToker @orlandoqponqueen says discount retailer Ross is likely to mark down many items to $0.49, especially holiday items, in a video showing the deals at her local Ross store.
“For those of you who don’t know, many things will be reduced to 49 cents, about $2, in January,” she says in the video.
The video shows her running through various categories of items, such as slippers, holiday-themed beauty items, and other items she predicts will be available at deep discounts after the Christmas holidays.

The video has been viewed more than 5.1 million times, with several Ross employees sharing their thoughts in the comments section.
“I’ve been at Ross for 5 years and some items are down to 0.49 cents because they were returned,” wrote one commenter. “Wash your clothes before you wear them!”
“I used to work at Ross and while that’s true, the staff can’t show you [where] all these things because they also don’t know that it’s really a treasure hunt!” – explained another. “The best way to score is to find items with the WRONG ticket. Also go through all the registration. If you frequent Ross and see the same few items, you can ask to see if they’ve been missed in the markdown, but please don’t do it when they’re busy!”
“Lower priced items will be holiday leftovers and clothing that has been returned/Clearance ONLY!” – added the third. “I’ve been working for Ross for 3 years.”
In the following video, @orlandoqponqueen addressed some of these issues, saying that she worked for Ross for seven years and “knows the ins and outs” of how the stores are structured and priced.
“I know this video might not get the same views as the other one, but I just want you guys to respect the workers,” she said. “Let them work, don’t hang over them.”
