Guwahati: Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma The Japan International Cooperation Agency-assisted Guwahati Water Supply Project was partially commissioned on Wednesday, a “major step” towards meeting the city’s drinking water requirements.

In a major step towards meeting the drinking water requirements of the city, JICA has partially commissioned the Guwahati Water Supply Project with a capacity to supply water to 13,000 households.

“With the capacity to supply 13,000 households covering large areas of the city, partial commissioning would go a long way in reducing the woes of the residents of Guwahati regarding safe and clean drinking water,” he said.
