Dorset-based clothing brand Brakeburn is to join a diverse line-up of retailers at KINGLAND in Poole.

His new store is due to open early next year and will feature some items from the womenswear and menswear range.

Brakeburn was previously only available online and in local stores.

This marks the KINGLAND unit as the lifestyle and fashion brand’s first brick-and-mortar store.

Founded in 2011 and inspired by outdoor living with coastal themes, recognizable products include casual wear, accessories and practical items such as changing robes.

Nick Jackson, founder and managing director of Brakeburn, said: “Our local team are inspired every day by their coastal passions, whether it’s windsurfing in the harbor or cycling through the Purbeck hills.

“Brakeburn is a relaxed coastal brand that echoes the Dorset lifestyle, making Poole the perfect location for our first store.

“We are very happy that we are starting the new year with a completely new enterprise for us on our territory.

“Launching our own store has been on the agenda for some time and the commitment to establish a unit at KINGLAND was based on it being the right place and the right time for us as a business.

“Poole is a great place to live and we look forward to being part of the regeneration of the town centre.”

KINGLAND, owned by Legal & General Investment Management Real Assets (L&GIM), opened in April 2021 as part of the reimagining of the Dolphin Centre.

The scheme supported independent businesses with two years of free rent and business rates as part of L&GIM’s aim to develop Poole’s current retail offer, operating against the backdrop of a declining national landscape.

John Grinnell, Head of the Dolphin Center (pictured left), said: “KINGLAND has been a huge success since its launch almost two years ago.

“We are delighted not only to see how this has benefited the center and Poole as a whole, but also for budding entrepreneurs diving into the world of retail.

“The high street is thriving again and we are delighted to welcome Brakeburn to the KINGLAND family.

“Brakeburn’s decision to take the leap and open its first store here in Poole is a testament to the hard work of all the businesses in the town center who are committed to ensuring our high street continues to be a vibrant and vibrant place to shop.”

More information on the Brakeburn store’s opening date and confirmation of available fashion ranges will be announced in the new year.

The team are currently recruiting for the position of Store General Manager and all recruitment inquiries should be sent to emma.torok@brakeburn.com.
