Daniel Craig Breaks Silence on Marvel Casting Rumors | Popgen Tech

Daniel Craig finally offered some thoughts on the rumors that he has become part of the MCU’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
While Benedict Cumberbatch’s sequel may not have had as many Multiverse shenanigans as expected, the film did explore a fun concept – the Illuminati.
After arriving on Earth-838, the story introduces the powerful group of heroes who protect that reality. The group consists of Professor X, Reed Richards, Captain Carter, Captain Marvel, Black Bolt, and Master Mordo.
However, some previously released concept art showed off another major character who was originally planned to be part of the fun: Balder the Brave. Not only that, it was rumored that Daniel Craig is in the role.
Looking at the aforementioned concept art, there’s an undeniable resemblance to Craig—but the actor himself has never responded to the claims.
Fortunately, this has changed now.
Is Daniel Craig in Doctor Strange?

In an interview with Josh Horowitz of Happy Sad Confused, Glass Onion: A Knife Mystery Star Daniel Craig has commented on rumors that he was once set to play a cameo in the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
After being asked if he had ever heard of the character of Balder the Brave, the character the actor is rumored to play, Craig hesitantly replied, “No.”
However, when the alleged reports of him are in Doctor Strange Horowitz pointedly noted, the actor took the opportunity to sip his drink and hide behind the mug.
Then, he suspiciously responds with, “I do not know what you’re saying.”
While Horowitz couldn’t get confirmation from Craig, he did question whether the actor would have taken the job as part of the MCU in the first place:
“I would take any job if the hours were good (laughs)… sure, absolutely. Yeah, definitely.”
When asked about both rumors in a separate interview with BBC Radio 1’s Ali Plumb, the actor said he “[doesn’t] know where they are [rumors] came from:”
“It’s all rumor… I mean, I don’t know where these things are coming from. It’s a lot of lockdown craziness.”
Denier is balder
It’s no surprise that Craig would deny these rumors—after all, that’s the Marvel way. Maybe he even got some tips from Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield.
With Balder’s concept art showing Craig’s likeness, that alone is confirmation enough that he is officially being considered for the role. Sometimes those artists create those sketches and keyframes with the likeness of specific actors as requested by the studio.
To add to the evidence that Craig almost briefly entered the MCU, a previous tweet from The Hollywood Report’s Justin Kroll revealed how the actor opted out of the Multiverse of Madness at the time of filming due to the increase in COVID.
However, it’s clear that Craig is no match for the MCU. In fact, the actor seems more than open to working at Marvel Studios.
So, to be honest, it may only be a matter of time before he joins the party in some capacity.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now streaming on Disney+.
