Deadpool Clearly Features a Weird Marvel Comic “Cameo” | Popgen Tech


The 2016 Deadpool movie featured a lot of Marvel easter eggs, including a very subtle reference to Dogpool, who was supposed to appear in Deadpool 3.

Like most modern superhero movies, 2016’s Deadpool It featured tons of Easter eggs from the legends of its titular character, including a brief and odd cameo. In the Marvel comics, the Deadpool of the mainstream universe created a superhero team consisting of several alternate universe Deadpool variants called “Deadpool Corps.” One of the founding members of the Corps is Dogpool, a canine version of the Merc with a Mouth, who was subtly mentioned in 2016’s Deadpool.


While Dogpool himself does not appear, a blink-and-you-miss-it enters Deadpool refers to the dog’s unknown anti-hero in the first part of the film. During the Skee-Ball scene at a carnival, a stuffed toy is seen among other prizes while Wade and Vanessa are talking, and the toy closely resembles the comic version of Dogpool. The coming Deadpool 3to be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has the perfect opportunity to introduce Dogpool to the movies, which would be a fitting addition considering the larger storyline that Deadpool 3 will be part of. Wade will likely be universe-hopping, so he might meet other Deadpools along the way.

Deadpool’s Dogpool Cameo Explained

Among the many prizes on offer are Wade Wilson and Vanessa The Deadpool The first act is a large stuffed toy of a dog wearing a red bodysuit and mask, with black eyepieces, making it a clear reference to Dogpool from the comics. In Marvel Comics lore, Dogpool was once a dog named Wilson who was used as an animal test subject, gaining a healing factor like Wade Wilson after a certain chemical experiment. As Dogpool, Wilson was given a canine version of Deadpool’s suit upon his adoption by the human members of the Deadpool Corps. It’s a quick scene, but the stuffed animal suit is unmistakable on screen.

Why Dogpool Had To Appear In Deadpool 3

Little is known about the premise of Deadpool 3. Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine, and, despite the film taking place in 20th Century Fox’s Marvel universe, it will be part of the MCU franchise. In MCU Phases 4 to 6 considered “The Multiverse Saga,” it’s safe to assume that Deadpool, Wolverine, and potentially more characters from Fox’s X-Men The franchise will join the MCU, perhaps permanently.

The likely multiversal nature of Deadpool 3 also creates the possibility of giving the Deadpool Corps its live-action debut. Considering the prominence of the multiverse in upcoming MCU installments, it’s fitting to introduce Deadpool’s alternate-universe doppelgängers, including Dogpool. Deadpool 3 introducing Dogpool along with other members of the Deadpool Corps would be both a fitting choice for the Multiverse Saga and a satisfying way to pay off an Easter egg in 2016’s Deadpool.
