With 2022 coming out, we’re starting to look ahead to next year with our epic 2023 movie preview, where we’ll take a look at nearly every major upcoming release studio-by-studio.

Walt Disney Studios starts us off, expecting a big year with blockbuster sequels from Marvel Studios (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania; Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3; The miracles) and Lucasfilm (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny), as well as several animated films from Pixar (Elemental) and Disney Animation (Wish) that should delight audiences around the world.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

With Phase 4 in the rearview mirror, Marvel Studios is starting Phase 5 with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniawhere they will formally introduce the main antagonist of The Multiverse Saga, Kang the Conqueror, who will apparently track down Scott Lang for a mission that could have potentially devastating consequences.

Almost

Five years later Super Troopers 2Broken Lizard returns to satirical comedy Almostwhich is loosely based on Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame. We still don’t know much at this point, but it should contain plenty of trademark humor.

Win the Next Goal

After a second round with God of Thunder, director Taika Waititi tackles an entirely different genre in the sports comedy-drama Win the Next Goalstarring Michael Fassbender (X-Men: Days of Future Past) as Thomas Rongen, a Dutch-American coach who attempts to lead the American Samoa national football team into qualification for the 2014 World Cup.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is a nice treat, but it’s back to business for our favorite A-holes next May, with the arrival of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

While tracking down Gamora will be a priority for Peter, the Guardians will also have their hands full with Adam Warlock on their tails and don’t expect him to rush anyone.

The little mermaid

First look at Disney The little mermaid has been wowing audiences since its release, and having seen Halle Bailey’s full performance at the D23 Expo earlier this year, we can assure you that this is one title that fans will definitely not want to miss!

Elemental

Disney and Pixar have a long history of delivering magic and Pixar seems no different, because it tells the story of a “fiery girl and a go-with-the-flow guy,” WHO,”are about to discover something simple: how much they are alike.“

Release Date: June 16

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Indy returns for one last ride and it looks like this will be his biggest adventure yet as he takes on the Space Race. While plot details are under wraps, with Harrison Ford and director James Mangold in the lead, this should be one of next summer’s most entertaining blockbusters.

The miracles

Marvel Studios released the first look trailer for The miracles during the D23 Expo earlier this year, and although it won’t appear online before the end of 2022, the sequel is expected to be a big step up from its predecessor as Carol Danvers teams-up with Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau to solve a cosmic problem.

Cast: Brie Larson (Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel), Iman Vellani (Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel), Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Saagar Shaikh (Aamir Khan), Zenobia Shroff (Muneeba Khan), Mohan Kapur (Yusuf Khan), Zawe Ashton, and Park Seo-joon.

Haunted Mansion

It’s about to get really scary next August, because we’re being taken back to Disney’s Haunted Mansion for a new adventure that will follow a single mother and her son as they move into a New Orleans-based mansion, before discovering that there is more to their new home than meets the eye and they will need an exorcist to fix things.

Cast: Rosario Dawson, LaKeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, Winona Ryder, Dan Levy, Jared Leto, Danny DeVito, and Jamie Lee Curtis

A Haunting in Venice

Hercule Poirot is back next fall for A Haunting in Venicethe third entry in Kenneth Branagh’s ongoing mystery series after Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile. Both previous titles have been fairly well received, but this one may be the most exciting yet as it adapts a lesser-known Agatha Christie novel. Hallowe’en Party.

True love

Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) helms this sci-fi drama, and while plot details are lacking, it has the potential to be one of the more exciting releases of the fall.

Cast: John David Washington, Gemma Chan, Allison Janney, Ken Watanabe, Ralph Ineson, Sturgill Simpson, and Marc Menchaca

Wish

This may be one of Disney’s more intriguing animated offerings, as it promises to tell the untold story of how desire began in their expanded universe of films. Following a girl named Asha, it will show how her wish changes her world forever.
