Forget the Infinity Stones, Marvel Fans Name the True Hidden Gems of the MCU | Popgen Tech

We are on a mission to find the MCU‘s hidden gems — and we’re not talking about the Infinity Stones. We’re referring to the underrated, overshadowed, and “slept-on” Marvel productions that some of the more mainstream entries in the franchise don’t quite like, but still hold up as useful mirrors in eye

Reddit defines a “hidden gem” as a “thing that’s really good, but few have seen and it’s generally underappreciated.” There aren’t many Marvel productions that can cry poverty as far as box office revenue goes, but not every feature-length film, television series, or short garners a dedicated following. In general, hidden gems are not popular, but deserve higher demand. Immediately, Reddit referred to Agents of SHIELD, among others, as so-called hidden gems.

Considering it took home $677.8 million at the box office, you wouldn’t immediately think of Scott Derrickson. Doctor Strange as a hidden gem, but — in recent years — it’s really been overshadowed by the likes of Black Panther and the Spider-Man trilogy.

Also, Ant-Man is another superhero who doesn’t top anyone’s mind with the likes of Captain America and co. While Paul Rudd brought a lot of charm and charisma to the role, it wasn’t enough to cement him in the minds of Marvel’s mainstream audience.

Some Marvel nuts seem to agree, but Netflix Jessica Jones — starring Krysten Ritter as the titular super-powered heroine — deserves more love than it’s gotten since debuting in 2015. It’s had three seasons overall, but nothing can top Ritter’s Jones and David Tennant’s mind-controlling baddie in Kilgrave. There is some inexplicable chemistry between the two that makes their dynamic fun and intriguing.

And then we have Eternals, which — to be frank — flew completely under the radar during its theatrical run. It has hardly any promotional material, hardly any advertising and frankly, it’s better than the lack of hype suggested. Starring big names like Game of Thrones‘ Kit Harrington, Bodyguardby Richard Madden, MaleficentAngelina Jolie and former 1D boy Harry Styles, have high hopes Eternals to perform, and for what it’s worth – it did. Perhaps one of its biggest downfalls is that it relies too much on an ensemble cast and not enough on an enriching storyline. But isn’t that what every Marvel flick is?

So many others could have made the cut. Iron Man 3 and The Incredible Hulk are both named several times, too. We won’t weigh in on the Ruffalo-Norton debate, however, because we’re not looking to stir the pot when the dust settles a few years ago (Ruffalo), but we can confidently say that there are countless hidden gems to be unearthed. in the MCU if you dig deep.
