STUDIO CITY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A pair of cheeky holiday grinches were caught on surveillance camera robbing a Studio City store just before the holidays.

Thieves made off with thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise from local artists and artisans – even swiping a pillow on the way out.

The theft happened shortly before 2 a.m. at Mag.Pi on Ventura Blvd.

“It’s a holiday today and nobody wants to feel offended,” said Stephanie Pollard of the store. “So it was very difficult.”

The suspects attempted to break down the front door before breaking a side window to gain entry.

“They came in and so quickly it was smash and grab, just grab, grab, grab,” Pollard said.

The video shows the male suspect reaching for the jewelry boxes, pulling as much as he can grab from one display case, then turning his gaze to another box.

In the sound he heard that he did not find money.

The female suspect fled the office empty-handed in search of cash and was heard on audio recording that she found no money. The man grabbed an entire box of jewelry and ran out, while the woman filled a garbage bag with clothes, shoes and handmade blankets – even wiping down a pillow on the way out.

The store is hoping someone recognizes the suspects in the video and contacts police before they ruin the holidays for another small business.

“We really want these people caught and brought to justice,” Pollard said.
