Rahatani, December 19, 2022: In an incident in Rahatani on Sunday (December 18), a 70-year-old woman was duped by two people on the pretext of free clothes.

The individuals told the woman that their boss had given birth to a son after 12 years and was giving out free clothes. The woman in question lodged a complaint at the Wakada police station and a case was registered against the two unidentified persons.

According to the police, the appellant was traveling to Pimpri and was waiting for a rickshaw at Rohatani to buy groceries. At that moment, a man appeared and told the prosecutor that after 12 years, his Sheta (boss) had a son. So poor people get free clothes. The man brought the plaintiff with him in front of the Crown Bakery where another man was sitting and asked about the plaintiff’s poverty and whether she spoke Marathi.

In addition to stealing Rs 7,000 in cash from the plaintiff’s bag, the two took two 20 gram gold necklaces worth Rs 50,000 from her neck. Wakad police station has registered a case and further investigation is on.
