James Cameron’s Avatar sequel, Avatar: The Way Of Water, is enjoying the love of the audience at the box office, and the director is undoubtedly very happy and proud of his creation. The director put all his efforts again, instead of the last time to create this world-class show. The film picks up from where it ended thirteen years ago, and along with the old cast, Cameron includes some new faces in his latest release, with Kate Winslet being one of them. Her character exuded power, and the way her character was written made Cameron proud.
Kate worked with Cameron on Titanic in 1997, which won eleven Oscars, and now she returns to the director as the spiritual leader of the Metkayina clan, who live on the coast. His character’s name is Ronal; he is a warrior in his tribe and has also been described as having the skills of a natural leader; his wife Tonowari is the head of their clan.
Not only does Kate’s Ronal prove to be pregnant throughout the film, but despite this, she is fierce and does not back down to fight those who come to harm her people. In this context, James Cameron has said that it is one of the best representations of women’s empowerment ever shown on screen and is more effective than superheroes like Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel.
In a recent interview with Variety’s Robert Rodriguez, James Cameron said, “But what is the huge part of a woman’s life that we as men don’t get to experience? And I thought, ‘Well, if you’re really going to go down the rabbit hole of female empowerment, let’s have a female warrior six months pregnant in battle’. I thought, ‘let’s remove the real border’. For me, it’s the last bastion you can’t see. Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel- all the other amazing women show up, but they’re not mothers, and they’re not pregnant while they’re fighting evil.”
James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water was released on December 16th and did well, and people were impressed with the visuals of the film. Have you seen Avatar: The Way of Water? Tell us in the comment section!
