James Gunn Reveals When He Will Officially Leave Marvel | Popgen Tech

On the tails of being one of the leaders of the DCU at Warner Bros. (WB), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Director James Gunn has now revealed when he will officially be leaving Marvel Studios.
Gunn has been a part of the MCU family since he was first launched Caregivers in 2014. Eight years later, after a brief road bump with Disney, he not only did a few more projects with those characters but also gave the DCU a movie (The Suicide Squad) and television series (peacemaker).
As announced in October, he, along with Peter Safran, will co-head the newly formed Marvel rival studio, DC Studios. This change begs the question: when will Gunn leave to work at Marvel Studios?
The director has now given an answer.
When is James Gunn Leaving Marvel Studios?

In a new one Twitter post, DCU Head Boss and The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (GOTG 3) Director James Gunn has revealed when his days at Marvel Studios will officially end.
Gun says he is “both DC and Marvel… until May [2023]” when Vol. 3 premiere and complete its promotional tour.
“As made clear to all the press, until May, I am both DC and Marvel. I have dedicated most of the last 10 years of my life to the Guardians trilogy, and I will not abandon them or the thousands of people. make them at the 11th hour. The world won’t end if you both love each other.”
Some fans, funnily enough, resent Gunn for being on both sides.
@armnm10 that shout “[he is] of DC, NO Marvel!!!,” while @Gwapo_Lobo stood up to declare that “If [he] is David Zaslav, [he would] cut off part of his salary for promoting the competition.”
Don’t be those people.
Of course, Gunn will be both Marvel and DCU until GOTG 3 releasing Did the fans think that he would just abandon the conclusion to him? Caregivers trilogy just like that? In other words, it’s crazy to think he would.
Furthermore, as Gunn said above, and as something more fans need to hear: “The world won’t end if you both love each other.”
Although two companies may have inherent competition in the products they sell, this does not mean that one person is only allowed to like one or the other. It’s a bit childish to think like that, especially when the same sentiment is expressed over and over again.
If only Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige could declare that “[he’ll be the] first in line” to watch what Gunn is doing in the DCU, then anyone should understand how it’s okay to be a fan of both.
A Bright Future for the DCU
While it’s a bummer that Marvel Studios will lose the talents of James Gunn, it’s at least a win for the DCU, which has been having a rough go of it lately (just look at what happened in Batgirl).
Gunn promises that their new plan for the cinematic universe will tell “The Greatest Story Ever Told.” Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav seems pleased with their work as well—and they’ve only been in the position for about three weeks at this point.
Given Gunn’s affinity for niche characters, like Bat-Mite, fans should probably expect a little more of this than usual. Hopefully though, those tendencies won’t stop him from working on putting together the main Justice League one more time—hopefully, in a successful movie this time.
For those sad about the director’s departure from the MCU, there are still two Guardian of the Universe projects expected from the filmmaker. The first is The Holiday Specialwhich drops next week on Disney+, and the second is none other than Vol. 3which hits theaters on May 3, 2023.
