Thanks to a new rumor about Marvel Studios’ upcoming Phase 5 slate, it appears that Ryan Gosling may be on his way to a role within the MCU.
Since becoming the talk of the Hollywood world with Oscar-winning in 2015 La La Land, Ryan Gosling just added to his extensive run of A-list projects across the entertainment industry. More recently, he has teamed up with the Russo brothers for their efforts The Gray Manwhich also stars MCU icon Chris Evans, prompting fans to wonder if he’ll get his own shot in the vast Marvel universe.
Gosling actually talked about the idea of getting a Marvel role, mentioning how “cold” it is to take any kind of part in the ever-expanding Multiverse Saga.
Well, thanks to a new rumor, there might be a movie where fans will see Gosling make his long-awaited MCU debut – Thunders.
Ryan Gosling Thought for MCU Villain Role

Noted scooper Daniel Richtman shared on his Patreon account that Marvel Studios is looking for Ryan Gosling to play a major villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
The role calls for a male lead between the ages of 30 and 50, describing him as “a conflicted and powerful villain” and comparing him to a “bad Superman.” Rumor has it that Marvel is interested in Gosling or Alexander Skarsgård playing the role in 2024’s Thunders. All signs point to the character being the powerful Marvel entity, Sentry.
Who is this ‘Evil Superman’ Villain?

If Gosling does indeed take on the role of Sentry in the MCU, he’ll be taking on one of the most powerful characters comics has to offer – one who also has ties to the Super Soldier Serum.
Sentry aka Robert Reynolds was injected with a serum that gave him superpowers when he was a high-school teenager, but it was one designed to be far more powerful than the concoction Steve Rogers created in Captain America. After taking the serum, Reynolds was filled with what was described as “the power of a million exploding suns,” leaving a trail of destruction behind him wherever he goes.
Should he be the main villain? Thunders, this team of reformed villains and antiheroes will have their hands on arguably one of the most powerful villains in MCU history. Most Thunderbolts boast street-level abilities outside of heavy hitters like Ghost, so facing a villain this powerful would be something that would bring a new level of excitement to the MCU.
But aside from that, if Gosling does indeed take on the role, it will just add another big name to the MCU roster as the Multiverse Saga continues to build.
Thunders will debut in theaters on July 26, 2024.
