A new Marvel comic may have revealed that a hidden villain is on the way Avengers: Secret Wars.
From then on Loki, and technically in the past, fans have been talking about Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror. The big bad, introduced in Tom Hiddleston’s recent outing, is set to fill the hole left by Josh Brolin’s Thanos as the next big threat in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Majors knows what fans expect and he tells it how he is “The assignment is different” than Brolin’s villain—needless to say, the actor is confident of making a mark in the MCU with the now-iconic Mad Titan.
Next, the villain will appear Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania on February 17, 2023. Then, somehow, he will continue to be an antagonist to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and like Secret Wars.
But now, thanks to a recently unveiled comic book event, Marvel may be teasing the inclusion of a hidden villain in the MCU’s future.
Marvel’s New Event Focuses On One Main Villain

Marvel has officially announced a new comic event called Avengers Beyond which could tease a potential secret villain Avengers 6.
The story can be seen “the Avengers… finally realize the shocking truth behind their latest, action-packed adventure as they face the one and only Beyonder.”
Yes, the same Beyonder responsible for the original Secret Wars happenings.
Marvel teased that the villain will do “[return] with a vengeance” and will be “[hatching] his latest twisted scheme for the Marvel Universe.”
Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have also been revealed “Realize something or someone has been influencing them in the past few months:”
“… Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have realized something, or something has been influencing them in recent months, that is altering the very fabric of reality in an attempt to prepare the planet for a threat that could destroy everything. Here, now, this invisible individual will be dragged, kicking and screaming, out of the shadows and into the light—and revealed as the Beyond! Big things are coming to the Marvel Universe.”
The series will see writers Derek Landy and Greg Land take on the story and help tell the next big Avengers epic.
Landy gave a statement teasing how fans will experience a “story of the gods,” and he is “More than excited” who are behind this project:
“I’m very excited to take everything we’ve done with ALL-OUT AVENGERS and carry it forward into its next incarnation,” said Landy. “We’re just starting to adjust against the broader implications of the Beyonder’s agenda, and the opportunity to tell this kind of story—the story of the gods, the one thing that terrifies them, and the Avengers caught in the middle —is an impossible dream come true for a kid who grew up on SECRET WARS.”
Who is Beyond?
The Beyonder is a member of the Beyonders, a near-powerful race that lives outside the Multiverse. This particular member of the species started on his own, unknown to everyone in his race.
After some complicated events in the comics with Owen Reece, also known as Molecule Man, a hole was punched in Beyonder’s reality, causing him to discover the Marvel Universe. One thing leads to another, and the character begins to observe Earth.

Naturally, his next step is to create a reality where he will trick the mighty heroes of Earth-616 into a place called Battleworld, where he will pit heroes and villains against each other-it most of the concept for the original. Secret Wars incident almost four decades ago.
For Secret War II, the Beyonder gains a physical body to use while observing Earth. Oddly enough, he was originally chosen to copy Steve Rogers’ look. The sequel puts a lot of focus on the troubled character trying to fit in on Earth.

For the 2015 version of the event, the same exact Beyonder wasn’t the focus—his entire race was. Additionally, their part to play is more than just laying the groundwork for what’s to come in the main event.
Eventually, Doctor Doom steals all of the race’s power to use in an attempt to save all existence from destruction. Funnily enough, it wasn’t the first time Doom had stolen power from their kind either—he had easily stolen it from The Beyonder earlier. Secret Wars in 1984.
Is the Beyonder already in the MCU?

Because of recent Avengers: Secret Wars movie announcement, it’s definitely suspected that Marvel has decided to bring The Beyonder back into the spotlight. Is his MCU debut coming soon?
The Beyonder is a massive character, so bringing him for the big screen would be a big deal. There is also the question of: will it happen before or during Secret Wars?
Currently, the assumption is that Kang the Conqueror will be the main villain for the fifth and sixth. Avengers movies—just like Thanos did Infinity War and Endgame. But could number six introduce someone like The Beyonder?
Many are hoping Doctor Doom enters the picture, but what if The Beyonder gets that privilege instead? Possibly even setting the stage for bigger and funnier cosmic concepts, events, and characters after the Multiverse Saga.
Avengers: Secret Wars hits theaters on May 1, 2026.
