Late on Thursday night (December 15), a mysterious light lit up the sky in East and Northeast India. The phenomenon took the internet by storm, and social media sites were full of speculation until the news of the successful test of the Agni-V ballistic missile broke.
A defense official informed the media that the overnight trial of Agni-V nuclear ballistic missile was successfully conducted in Odisha.
The missile is already able to hit targets at a distance of up to 5,000 km with a high degree of accuracy, and now the range can be increased further according to the test results.
According to officials, the test was conducted in an attempt to validate advanced technology and new equipment on the missile, which weighs less now. Overall, the successful test of this surface-to-surface ballistic missile further cemented India’s self-defense capabilities.
