HATTISBURG, MISS. (WDAM) – People from the Salvation Army of Hattiesburg took to the streets around their headquarters along US 49 Saturday to deliver hot chocolate and warm wishes to their neighbors.

“We just wanted to spread a little bit of hope and Christmas cheer and just remind people that there are people out there who care about them, who love them and share the love of Christ with them, through a simple hot chocolate, just a drink and a snack, a hat, some gloves, everything , what we can do,” said Lt. Miranda Estudiante, commander of the Hattiesburg Salvation Army.

Staff took the van to several different locations, including the Field Home for the Homeless, to hand out cups of hot chocolate and warm knit hats to those who wanted them.

Employees also served hot chocolate to Salvation Army thrift store employees and customers.
