As usual in Witcher 3, it can be easy to mistake a side quest for the main story beat. CD PROJEKT RED has done a phenomenal job of ensuring that every mission you take on is elaborate and filled with twists and turns to constantly subvert the player’s expectations.

One of the most memorable is In Wolf’s Clothing and focuses on you tracking down and defeating a ghoul that just refuses to die. This is one of the best missions Witcher 3 has to offer, and if you want a step-by-step guide on how to complete it, here’s how to complete In Wolf’s Clothing.

Your mission begins by being picked up during the Nameless main quest, but if you want to start it a little earlier, visit Larvik and pick up the request from the notice board. Once the quest starts, your task will be to visit Freya’s temple and talk to Yost.

Interacting with Yost will reveal that he wants you to destroy the man known as Morkvarg, but there is a catch. Others tried to kill this enemy, only to find that it resurrected after each death. Josta later explains that an archpriestess known as Ulve placed a curse on Morkvarg before she died. You will then talk to Einar who will tell you more information about the curse.

From here, you’ll need to follow the wolves’ tracks, which will take you through nearby wildlife before eventually reaching the stairs. Head up and you’ll encounter a puzzle that turns out to be the most difficult part of In Wolf’s Clothing in Witcher 3 for most players.

You will be presented with two levers and your goal is to open the gate leading to Morgwark. However, there are three gates, and each one leads to a different place. To open the one you need, you need to use the right lever to select a gate before pressing the left lever, which will open it.

The middle gate will take you to Morgwark, but you can also open the far left gate to exit the garden, or the right gate to get a quest item. You’ll want to enter this last gate, as you’ll find a key at the end of the passage. With these options, you have two ways to defeat Morkvarg Witcher 3.

After opening the middle gate and swimming through, you’ll enter a new area with a run-down shack in the middle. Here, you’ll meet Morkwarg after exploring the area inside, along with a werewolf leg that prompts a conversation. He’ll tell some more details of the story before the two of you finally have a fight.

Make sure you’re leveled up and stocked up on potions, and don’t forget to use your signs when you get into trouble. Eventually, you’ll be given the option to feed him his own werewolf meat, which, when eaten, will kill him instantly. If you don’t have werewolf meat, loot it and then mediate for 24 hours to fight it again.

Completing this will net you 50 XP and a Salmian Brigandine. Use this opportunity to also return to Josta, who will reward you with even more rewards. However, if you want to get the most out of In Wolf’s Clothing for Witcher 3we recommend the second way to complete this quest.

How to remove the curse in The Witcher 3

Go back to where you opened the gate, this time go through the far right gate where you’ll come across a cave. Here you can find a padlock key among the skeletal remains, which you’ll need for another part of In Wolf’s Clothing.

Leave the cave and search the house near the sacred tree in the garden. Inside, search the rooms until you come across Morkvarg’s diary. Here, you’ll discover some interesting details about Einar, and it’s up to you to confront him on the matter. With this new information, return to Larvik and talk to Einar.

After talking to him, make sure you keep him calm and explain that you only want to remove the curse. Any harsh responses will lead to a fight between you and his gang, with disastrous consequences. Einar will instead tell you everything you need to know, and that giving Morkvarg the thorn that infected him will lift the curse.

You may have to fight Einar at this point, depending on your dialogue choices, or you can convince him to hand over the case. As a farewell, Einar will ask you to kill Morkvarg when he becomes human again. With everything you need, return to the gate and go through the middle ones to reach Morkvarg.

Inside, you’ll be forced to fight him, so if you haven’t already, be sure to use whatever you have at your disposal to make this fight an easy one. After defeat, you have the option to give him the stinger you were given.

You can finish the quest in two ways. The first is to kill him after removing the curse for 85 XP or claim the reward. This will give you 80 experience and an objective to visit the rostovik in Navigrad. You can also take this opportunity to kill him after getting this information to earn double rewards if you want.

And that’s all you need to know about In Wolf’s Clothing in Witcher 3. Each path has its own advantages and rewards, but it’s up to you to decide which path you want to take.
