While The Old 97 kick off the special with this new and original song, it’s one of their other Christmas songs that takes center stage at the end of the special, with Kevin Bacon joining the band to sing “Here It Is Christmas Time.” The legendary actor (and in-world Marvel hero) called the performance that closed the Holiday Special a “pinch me” moment.
“[James] has got a really good ear for needle drops,” explained Bacon. “I love this song, it’s really hard to write a new Christmas song at this point. I started playing it, and I really enjoyed playing it this and singing this. Then stand there with The Old 97’s and they’re in makeup and crazy costumes, and look down at the world and all the Guardians are there, and they’re enjoying this song and so are the others more in that world. , community. It’s really fun and hilarious, and a great experience.”
