Representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) of Azerbaijan have been holding peaceful protests for the tenth day near Shusha, near the place of temporary deployment of Russian peacekeepers, Trend reports from the scene.

The action is being held against the denial of access to the territory of Azerbaijani specialists who will monitor the illegal exploitation of Azerbaijani resources by Armenians.

Taking into account the difficult weather conditions in the region, the participants of the peaceful protests receive comprehensive support from the public. Volunteers of the “Regional Development” GA collected warm things (hats, gloves, scarves, etc.) and distributed them to the participants of peaceful actions. Provision of participants with warm clothes in connection with preservation of difficult weather conditions in the region will continue.

Earlier, as a result of the negotiations with the peacekeeping command of the Russian Federation, on December 3 and 7, 2022, a group of experts from the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the State Property Service under the Ministry of Economy, and AzerGold CJSC was going to start preliminary monitoring of illegal mining, as well as environmental consequences arising on Azerbaijani lands, where temporarily deployed Russian peacekeepers, December 10, 2022.

The expert group was supposed to examine the environmental situation at the “Gizylbulag” gold deposits and the “Damirly” copper-molybdenum deposit, monitor various territories, organize a cadastral accounting of property, assess possible risks and threats to the environment, as well as underground and surface water sources.

However, the expert group, accompanied by Russian peacekeepers, encountered provocations when it arrived in the monitoring zone. The planned initial inspection and monitoring did not take place due to the fact that the Russian peacekeepers not only did not create the necessary conditions, but also prevented the entire process from being conducted.
